Audio field details
Updated over a week ago

Include an audio field on your Template to capture up to 10 minutes of audio from your Form Users.

Form Users can record audio in Form or List View in the GoFormz mobile or web app. Anybody with access to the drafted or completed Form can listen to the recordings - including members of any Group who owns the completed Form.

🗒️ Note: To record responses using the audio field, Form Users need:

  • Access to their device’s microphone.

  • Permission granted to record audio to their device.

  • Mobile users will also need to use mobile app version 4.0.677 or later.

Add an audio field to your Template so your users can record and submit recorded messages as a part of their Forms.

Add an audio field to your Template

Drag an Audio field onto your Template as with any other data field. Audio fields work with both Form and List View Templates.

With your audio file mapped to your Template, you’ll manage the field’s name, description, and maximum recording length.

As with every data field, you should assign a Name to best manage your information.

Enter a Description to provide a short, explanatory text about the field.

A user will be unable to mark a Form as complete until they provide a response to your field if you set Required to “Yes”.

Access the Actions menu (. . .) next to Required to enter a custom calculation to determine whether your field is required based on other criteria. Common criteria used include a user’s Group, or a separate response.

Author Only makes your field editable only by the user who created the Form. Use this setting to enforce user permissions for particular fields in a Workflow.

Enter the maximum amount of time - in minutes - that you want captured in Max Length (mins). Set your audio field to capture 1-10 minutes of audio.

Record audio when you fill out a Form

When you fill out a Form, depending whether you're on the mobile or web app, you’ll either tap or click the audio field to launch the audio field window.

In the audio field window, you’ll tap or click Record to begin your recording.

Your recording will continue until you either press stop, or reach the maximum allowed recording length.

When you complete your recording, the field displays your recording’s name and total length. Tap or click the Play button to listen back to your recording. During playback, you can scroll backwards or forwards through your recording in 10 second increments.

Click or tap the arrow to the right of your recording’s name to download your recording.

When you’re ready to include your recording with your Form, tap or click Done. If you need to re-record your audio, tap or click Clear.

Listen to audio files submitted by your Form Users

If you have permissions to view a Form that has an audio field, you can access the included recordings. These permissions include inclusion in a Group who owns the Form.

When you open a submitted Form that includes a recorded audio field, you’ll click the audio field on the Form to access the audio.
