About the File Attachment field

Enable your Form Users to include files with their Form submission using the File Attachment field.

Updated over a week ago

While your Form User provides most of the necessary information when they fill out a Form, with the File Attachment field your users can include external files with their Form submission.

File Attachment field file requirements

With file attachment, your Form Users can submit up to files up to 10 MB in size. Users can include files external to the Form. Modify your requirements in Field Properties.

Here, you'll decide the file types, quantities, and sizes when you include this new field. By default, all file types will be accepted if they meet the size requirements. The default max file size is 10 MB, but you can modify your settings to limit files to a smaller size.

Determine the types of files your users can include with the Allowed File Types drop-down menu. Select from Documents, Images, Spreadsheets, .csv, .gif, and .ps files.

Documents includes .doc, .docx, .pdf, .pptx, .rtf, and .txt files.

Images includes .ai, .bmp, .gif, .ico, .heif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .ps, .svg, .tif, and .tiff files.

Spreadsheets includes .xls, .xlsx, and .csv files.

You can also type in specific file types to further narrow restrictions on your file submissions.

The number of files a Form User can submit per field depends on your account tier. Team accounts can include a maximum of 2 files per field. Advanced and Enterprise Accounts can include a maximum of 10 files per field.

Access to attached files

Form Users can include files in Form or List View in the GoFormz mobile or web app. The included files can be viewed by anybody with access to the drafted or completed Form, including members of any Group who owns the completed Form.

πŸ—’οΈ Note: Admins have access to the Form, including any attached files,
whether the Form remains a draft, or is completed.

Access attached files when you open the Form to which the files are attached in the Form Editor. With the Form open in the Form Editor, you'll click the file attachment field.

A menu will open where you'll click the download icon next to each included file which you want to download.

Your selected file will begin to download.

You can also leverage file attachment fields within your automations.

File Attachment and your automations

The files your Form User attaches are only accessible in GoFormz. If the completed Form is emailed using a Template Event, then any files included in the File Attachment field will not be automatically included.

This is also true when you export a Form as a PDF. If you want to save the files included in the File Attachment field, you'll need to download the attached files separately.

File attachments are only accessible on the Form Editor while viewing the Form. Send your files to a third-party platform when you include the Get Form File Attachment step in a custom Workflow.

πŸ—’οΈ Note: Contact Pro Services for more information about custom Workflows.
