Page elements are the individual components which make up your PDF background's appearance. Add page elements in the Page Editor so you can make any necessary changes in the future.
🗒️ Note: Page elements added outside of GoFormz cannot be managed in the Page Editor.
Page elements only provide a visual for your Template. Examples of these elements include items ranging from boxes to your company logo. Form Users can only interact with the data fields which you map to your Template in the Field Editor.
On the web app, navigate to the Templates tab and click Build to access the Template Editor. When you edit your Template in Form view, you'll find the Page Editor button in the left panel. Click Page Editor to access page elements.
In the Page Editor you'll manage the pages and map elements to your Template's PDF background.
Manage your Template’s PDF background pages
When you upload your document to your account, you'll manage your pages using the Pages panel in the Page Editor's right-hand panel.
If you need space to map elements beyond what’s available on your existing PDF background, this is where you’ll add blank pages. Drag your pages here to change their display order.
Open the Bulk Actions drop-down menu if you need to replace a page in your document. Here you can also download your PDF background as a PDF.
With your pages in order, you're ready to map elements to your PDF background.
Map elements to your PDF background
Drag an element onto the page to map it to your PDF background.
🗒️ Note: These elements impact only the appearance of your PDF background - you’ll still manage your data collection by mapping data fields in the Field Editor.
In the Page Elements panel on the left-hand side of the screen you'll find the following elements:
Image
Text
Rectangle
Line
Table
Checkbox
The Image element provides a space to upload your own image to your PDF background. Images up to 5 MB are accepted. Acceptable file types include JPG, PNG, and SVG.
Include the Text element to enter text onto your PDF. The text you enter here will display for your Form Users, but they'll be unable to interact with it.
Rectangle elements create a space on your PDF background which can guide your data field mapping. Common uses for boxes include text boxes, barcode locations, and image field placeholders.
Use the Line element to segment your document, insert a space for a signature, or as a component for building larger elements.
Checkboxes are pre-sized to match the default sizing for checkbox and checkbox group data fields. Additionally, you can format your checkboxes as either squares or circles. Whether squares or circles, your checkboxes maintain a locked aspect ratio.
Table elements are pre-sized to match the default setting of table data fields. Add rows and columns, and resize them as necessary. If you resize the table, your rows and columns will maintain their aspect ratio.
🗒️ Note: The background color of your table cannot be changed.
After you've mapped an element to your PDF background, you'll manage the element's appearance by modifying the details in the Properties panel.
Each element has unique properties aimed at managing the element's appearance on your PDF background. Here you'll manage an element's size, color, and positioning relative to other elements.
